Here’s a question from a PickingPal Customer who was curious if PickingPal offered any options for using barcode scanning to scan items into inventory:

Hi,

Current HAPPY client, BUT [do] you have a way for us to scan products INTO inventory?

HELP!

I just want to scan items and add it, hundreds a day.

Thanks, Brian

WooCommerce: Scanning Items Into Inventory with a Barcode Scanner

Hi Brian,

Thank you once again for contacting us!

Unfortunately, PickingPal does not interact with the inventory system in any manner, so we do not have any capability that would allow you to scan items into inventory.

However, there are several mobile apps that count inventory using barcode scanning.

One such app is called “Barcode Inventory counter” from Sensodroid Ltd – Digital Scale (Android Google Play Store).

The app can help you count incoming inventory using your phone’s camera (as a barcode scanner), then you’d take the totals, and enter them into the WooCommerce product catalog manually.

There may be similar apps in the Apple App Store as well.

Another alternative, which is what we do at one of our businesses, is to use an Excel Spreadsheet program that has been programmed to count items using a barcode scanner, keeping track of the individual scans, as well as the totals.

Once we have the totals for each SKU, we add that information to our eCommerce inventory system.

To be honest, it’s a fairly straightforward process, and does work quite well.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

PickingPal Customer Service
